Apex Legends has a ton of significant changes in Season 8: Mayhem as Respawn has updated several characters with new buffs and nerfs for Wraith, Octane, Mirage and many more.
Respawn has been working on the new chapter of Apex for a long time, and it eventually culminated in the new character Fuse, along with a packed Battle Pass for people to see through as we head into the next season.
In addition to the changes made to various weapons in the game, the developers have also made adjustments to a large number of characters – eight to be precise – all of which details can be found below.
Apex Legends season 8 character nerfs and buffs
Wraith
Wraith has had the most success in Apex’s lifetime, but she does see some changes in her hit box in Season 8. Respawn takes some inspiration from Pathfinder’s Season 7 tweaks to balance the character even better.
Wraith’s hitbox is now slightly bigger than before, but it will still be “true to its model”. She will passively maintain the Low Profile, with most of the changes in the hitbox dimensions of the body and legs.

Wraith’s hit box will be slightly bigger around the center section and legs in Season 8.
“The fact remains that her win rate is still at the very top, as it has been since day one,” Respawn wrote. “Season 7’s hit box adaptations to Pathfinder allowed us to control his power without disrupting his equipment. We hope to do the same with Wraith. “
Wal
From the best to the worst, Rampart doesn’t do very well in Apex according to the developers. The developers will increase Sheila’s range of motion from 120 ° to 180 ° and increase the health of her Amped Cover from 1 health point to 45.
Respawn said they will “keep a close eye on this one,” as it relates to the reactive power of its wall, but something needed to be done to make Rampart more widely known in the game.
Horizon

Horizon has been a strong character in Apex Legends, alongside Wraith.
While Wraith was historically the most chosen / winning legend in the game, Horizon debuted at the top alongside her in Season 7.
Respawn considers this a healthy competition, but adds a slight grain to its Gravity Lift that increases the effective cooldown from 21s to 25s (15s cooldown now starts when the Gravity Lift disappears).
However, the developers don’t want to completely undermine the power of Horizon, so they are going to check how these changes affect its performance in the game.
Octane
The job just got a lot easier for Octane players who have mastered the ‘super jump’ with the launch pad since Respawn reworked the mechanics of the Ultimate to incorporate a consistent way of performing the trick.
- Hitting the bouncer from a standing position will launch players along a high arc (the speed and trajectory of the old super jump).
- From a crouched position, players launch along a low arc, meaning they fly lower but farther horizontally.
This gives Apex players an easier way to take out the various jumps, opening up the tactical possibilities for everyone, not just those who have a lot of practice with this character.
Corrosive

Once Caustic’s team goes down, his Nox Gas goes away.
A change in quality of life hit Caustic’s Nox Gas in Season 8 as Respawn clears up any remaining fumes on the battlefield once he dies: “All gas will now disappear once Caustic’s team is out.”
This means there will be a new target on Caustic’s back as it gives teams an active incentive to be the first to take him out in combat.
Crypto
Not much has changed with Crypto this time around, but players will no longer be able to stick arc stars to its Surveillance Drone, wiping out the bomb delivery service that people have been somewhat abused since it was discovered.
Loba
Loba’s passive ‘Eye for Quality’, and by extension her Black Market Boutique, can now take a look at unopened healthcare packages. The developers have expanded the High Society Thief’s ability to steal the Arena’s loot with the change, making them a little more valuable to team competitions.
Mirage

Mirage’s decoys will make footstep noises in Season 8.
Mirage’s decoys will officially have footsteps in Apex Legends. This change was previously announced in Fight Night’s patch notes, though the studio admitted that the notification came out early and should have been saved for Season 8.
Those are the complete changes coming to the Apex Legends Season 8 update once the patch officially arrives Tuesday, February 2 at 10 a.m.PT / 1 p.m. ET.
