With new managers and new leadership positions in UnivisionThe dreaded layoffs came, and the chain itself exclusively confirmed them.

Most of them were talents, producers, technicians and executives of local channels and radio stations from different cities in the country. For example in Univision news in Miami, the presenter Alina Mayo Azze, the reporter José Alfonso Almora came out.

In Houston, Renzo Heredia, Esteban Creste of Univision New York, just to name a few.

Why this new wave of layoffs at Univision when the new owners are supposed to be giving a big cash injection?

In this case it would not be a crisis, but a new government with the changes that usually accompany it.

We contacted Univision who exclusively confirmed the layoffs via email and gave us the reasons why:

“Yesterday we announced some important changes to the structure of the company. The changes reflect a reorganization of the way we work and in some cases we have to say goodbye to some colleagues.

These are difficult but necessary decisions for our business as we transform to position Univision in its next growth phase. We remain committed to informing, entertaining and empowering the Spanish community “.

As we expected in October 2021 Luis Silberwasser, was appointed next Monday, January 11 as chairman of the television networks group Univision to run the properties of national television Univision.

Silberwasser’s position was not the only one announced yesterday. The new owners, who, as we said, completed the transfer and took charge in the last week of December, created new leadership roles and assigned them to people of great importance within the industry, most of whom are from outside the chain.

Pierluigi Gazzolo, is now the president of Univision Communications Inc. and director of transformation to drive the next era of growth and above Silberwaser and below, Wade Davis, CEO, of the company.

Special woman, was named president of marketing and ad sales, Friday Abernethy, executive vice president of content distribution and partnerships; Adam Shippee, executive vice president, corporate development, strategy and transformation; and Amy Tenbrink, Executive Vice President and Associate General Counsel, Revenue / Business Development with responsibilities across the digital business.

Will the layoffs that took place on the same day as the head of Univision’s new era board end? It is not clear, as the chain’s statement speaks not in the past, but in the present, so new outputs can still be expected.
