Universities train medical students to vaccinate against COVID-19

Dominican universities on Wednesday started the training process for medical students who will be volunteers in the vaccination process against Covid-19

The academies were part of the VaccineRD Plan and were selected by the Ministry of Health.

The Pedro Henríquez Ureña National University (UNPHU) carried out the training under the protocol of the Ministry of Health and together with this academy students of the Ibero-American University (UNIBE) were also trained.

The event counted on behalf of the UNPHU with the participation of Dr. William Duke, Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences; Dr. Claudia Scharf, Director of the School of Medicine and the Department of Health with Dr. Eladio Pérez; Doctors Suhaill Romero and Aurora Rodríguez, the latter two in the role of instructor.

The conference was held simultaneously at the Institute of Technology of Santo Domingo (INTEC), where students from the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM) were also present.

Also at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo, where students from the University of Technology of Santiago (UTESA) attended. On this campus, the conference will run until Thursday, June 25 for students from Eugenio María de Hostos University (UNIREMHOS), Central University of the East (UCE) and Dominican O&M University.

The training took place in the University’s Max Henríquez Ureña Room from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. The students were divided into groups of 25.
