Universal Orlando reaches capacity within minutes of opening

ORLANDO, Fla. (KABC) – Universal Orlando Resort tweeted that it reached capacity just 10 minutes after Wednesday’s opening – as well as Tuesday.

Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure reached capacity just after 8am and stopped admitting new guests. The parks also reached capacity shortly after opening on Tuesday. Guests were asked to check in advance before going to the parks.

Health officials are watching the size of the crowd because of COVID-19.

They say Florida has a positivity rate of more than 26%.

That means more than one in four coronavirus tests return positive.

But public health experts say there’s no evidence that COVID-19 outbreaks have been linked to theme parks.

The resort tweeted that it was starting to accept new guests again by early afternoon.
