Undocumented migrants outside the priorities of deportation | Univision Immigration News

Undocumented immigrants who are detained at the border after November 1, 2020 or who are undocumented in the country and do not demonstrate that they are in the United States before November 1 of last year or have a current deportation order, fall within the new deportation priorities that have been announced by the Joe Biden government.

That means that if they are detained or caught by immigration officers or police officers working with Customs and Border Control (ICE), the government will most likely start expelling them from the country.

“That’s not to say these people are in the crosshairs of the federal immigration services. The new priorities only indicate that these groups of people can be deported and are not protected by the new discretionary powers issued by the Joe Biden administration last week, ”said Ezequiel Hernández, an immigration attorney in Phoenix, Arizona.

These are the keys to the memorandum published last week by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) attributed to the new Chief of National Security of the United States, Alejandro Mayorkas.
