UEFA opens file for alleged racist insults against Ibrahimovic

The racist insults that Zlatan Ibrahimovic received in the Europa League round of 32 against Partizan are already being taken into account by UEFA, which opened a file to investigate them.

The UEFA opened a file to investigate the racist insults received by Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic from Sweden in the Europa League round of 32 against Partizan in Belgrade, played last week.

As reported by UEFAUnder Article 31 (4) of the UEFA Disciplinary Code, an inspector of ethics and discipline has been appointed to investigate these incidents.

Ibrahimovic, of Bosnian descent, is said to have been insulted by a person sitting in the VIP box of the Red Star stadium. The game was played behind closed doors due to covid-19 restrictions and Ibrahimovic, who was not a starter, sat behind the benches with other substitutes and staff from the Italian club.

The Red Star apologized to Ibrahimovic after the meeting in a statement assuring that he would work with local authorities to identify the person who made the insults.
