“It may take me a while.”

Tyler Oakley has actually been on YouTube forever. He has been making videos for 13 years and has amassed more than 7 million followers.

That’s why it was so surprising when Oakley revealed in a recent video that he’s taking an indefinite hiatus from YouTube.

“I’m making this video today to let you all know that I’ve been making videos for years and uploading them every Tuesday afternoon at noon for years and years and years and years,” he said.

“If you look since I was in college, I was 18 when I started and I’m 31 now. So you can go back and find a week of my life between those two dates and see what I was up to.”

“I’ve never really taken a break, and now is the time for me to take a break.”

Oakley indicated that he will be spending his time away “doing things I’ve always wanted to do,” and that while he doesn’t know when he’ll return to YouTube, the hiatus isn’t permanent.

“I’ll be back at some point,” he said. “But I’m not going to say when, because I don’t know when and it could take a while.”

‘This isn’t goodbye forever. This is like seeing you in a minute. Everything is fine. Nothing is bad in the worst possible way. Don’t go and assume the worst. ‘

Oakley also encouraged his followers to “press the bell next to the subscriber button” and ended with an unsubscribe indicating when he would return:
