Two off duty police officers in Virginia have been charged in connection with the fatal breach on the Capitol on Jan. 6.
Rocky Mount Police agents Jacob Fracker and Thomas Robertson were arrested Wednesday after being photographed in the Capitol making an obscene gesture for the statute of John Stark, the US Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia. announced.
A photo included as an exhibition in the criminal complaint released by authorities shows the men posing in front of the statue with their fingers up.
In a social media post included in the complaint, Robertson said, “CNN and the left are just angry because we attacked the government which is the problem and not some random small business … The right IN ONE DAY took the f — — US Capitol. Keep poking us. “
He also said he was “proud” of the photo in an Instagram post shared on Facebook because he was “willing to put his skin into play”.
In a separate Facebook post, Fracker said, “Lol to anyone who might be concerned about the photo of me circulating… sorry I hate freedom? … Not like I did anything illegal … you all do what you need to. “That message has since been removed, but was also proof of the criminal complaint.
Robertson admitted to Newsweek that he and Fracker had sent the photo to police colleagues and posted it on his own Facebook page after it was leaked, the complaint said.
The complaint also says that Robertson claimed he had not broken any laws and was escorted by police, “despite his earlier posts that he had” attacked the government “and” taken the f —— Capitol. ”
Both men have been charged with knowingly entering or remaining in a restricted building or property without legal authority and one time of violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds.
