Within hours, a man unleashed a series of stabbings that left two dead and two injured on the New York subway.
Citing authorities, the AP news agency reported that an unidentified man could be responsible for four separate stabbings recorded on the New York City subway within hours, leaving two dead and two injured.
The attacks took place between Friday morning and Saturday morning, New York police said in a news conference.
According to authorities quoted by AP, all four victims were homeless.
Police were looking for a man suspected of all sexual assaults and were viewing the images from the security cameras. The four stabbings took place on line A of the metro.
One of the victims was found dead on a train in Queens around midnight on Friday with multiple stab wounds to the neck and torso. Two hours later, a 44-year-old woman was found stabbed to death on the subway in north Manhattan.
The two non-fatal attacks, affecting a 67-year-old man and a 43-year-old man, were also in the north of the island.
City police said they would deploy an additional 500 officers on the city-wide metro network as a precaution.
“To the victims, to the victims’ families: we are 100% committed to achieving justice … to provide the families with a solution to this terrible incident,” Police Commissioner Dermot Shea said at a news conference.
The Reuters news agency said the suspect in the attacks was masked and none had been provoked, so authorities are continuing to investigate the cause and whereabouts of the person responsible.
Shooting ICE agents kills one during the Florida investigation
On the other hand, federal agents conducting a “massive financial investigation” killed a man with a gun in a shooting last Friday in Coral Gables (Miami-Dade, Florida), local media reported as quoted by Efe.
A special agent from the National Security Investigations Agency (HSI) said the officers involved in the shooting were conducting an investigation in that quiet town near Miami, Local 10 channel reported, Efe said.
Coral Gables Police said on their Twitter account that an “investigation” is currently underway in the area where the shooting took place, on Alhambra Circle Street, and advised residents or visitors to seek an “alternative route”. .
It turns out that several agents from the HSI and the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) were slightly injured in the shooting involving two vehicles.
According to images on Local 10 television, at the scene of the shooting, there were two silver-colored vehicles, a Chrysler minivan with bullet holes and a pick-up truck.
Officers placed a yellow tarpaulin in the minivan, apparently covering a body. The driver’s side window is smashed due to bullet holes.
Two FBI agents died and three others were injured on Tuesday during a search in Sunrise, north of Miami, Florida.
The shooting was triggered by a case of child pornography, which resulted in a deadly attack that also killed the suspect.
In a statement, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) confirmed the deaths of two officers and that two other injured officers were “taken to hospital and are in stable condition,” while the third did not require hospitalization.
The FBI added that the suspect, who barricaded himself in his home, also died. According to some local media, the man committed suicide.
