Two municipal agents and one state agent are killed in a prosecution on Isla Verde

Two municipal officers and a state agent died this afternoon after being injured in a chase on Baldority de Castro Avenue en route to Carolina at the Embassy Suites hotel on Isla Verde.

Another state agent has also been injured, Carolina Criminal Investigation Corps Captain José González reported.

Authorities said the police were chasing a white Hyundai Accent car, which allegedly shot at them and fled. The car was later found in Luis Llorens Torres residence, without a driver.

Federal agents are at the scene of the crime, the incident of which was reported at around 3:50 p.m.

“We responded supportively, if we found out that there was a federal link in what was happening, we would come in (to take jurisdiction),” said Limarys Cruz Rubio, spokesman for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

Traffic in the area remains congested, mainly the lane towards Carolina, so drivers are encouraged to take alternative roads.
