Two laboratories have self-service for COVID-19 tests | News from El Salvador

The companies Analiza and Laboratorio Centro de Diagnosis have this modality available to the public

Of the five private laboratories that the Department of Health has granted certification to perform the PCR-RT test to detect COVID-19, two are self-service, a very comfortable modality for people coming to undergo the screening because they are not allowed to get out of their vehicle to have a nasopharyngeal swab.

These companies are the Diagnostic Center Laboratory (Fuentes Beethoven branch) and Analiza Laboratory (Jerusalem Avenue), which serve hundreds of Salvadorans every day. The other three also do the Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) test, but people arriving by vehicle will have to park the vehicle and then continue taking tests in the labs.

Blanca Oliva, general manager of the Diagnostic Center Laboratory, explained that they are present at a scheduled appointment, with half an hour of space, appointments that can be made in person or by phone, from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm. where they do the test is from 6:00 am to 11:30 am. “We do not come in order of arrival, but by appointment, with the aim of avoiding traffic in the area,” explains the manager, who recommends that customers make your appointment three days in advance.

The Diagnostic Center lab explains on its Facebook page that it is the only one that performs the test in a 100% automated way, “eliminating human error and providing you with reliable results the same day,” information explained. .

An important clarification with both companies is that people arriving by motorbike cannot have a nasopharyngeal swab taken on the vehicle, so they must park and enter a booth to take the sample.

Ramón Germay Barrallaga, manager of Laboratorio Analiza, explained that the company is conducting tests between 5:30 am and 5:00 pm, adding that they plan to expand the service, not just to do it at the Jerusalem Avenue branch ( it will work from August), but two more will open in a month, both in the Medical Colony and Santa Ana.
