Two children Hondurans were saved from the strong current of the Bravo River, boundary division between the states of Coahuila, Mexico Y Texas, United States.
As reported by Del Rio US Border Patrol Sector, the minors were refugees on an island in the river. It is not known how they got there, leaving behind the unknown of a possible abandonment of those who helped them cross.
“Yesterday our agents rescued these two Honduran children while they were patrolling the river.”says the video published by the Rio Sector migration authorities.
To the agents who participated in the rescue, they consider these images “heartbreaking” regardless of the circumstances of how they got there.

The minors were taken into custody by Immigration, where their immigration status will be determined.
According to Unicef, In many cases, children travel alone through Mexico to the United States border to reunite with their relatives who live in that country or are looking for a better life.
Migrant children are vulnerable to situations that could violate their rights, such as: Being incarcerated, exposed to organized crime or human trafficking, being the victim of violence and discrimination, starving or cold, and not having access to health services.
