Two dead after being taken hostage in Texas medical center

Police say two people were killed during hours of being held hostage in a Texas medical center.

Police responded to the Children’s Medical Group in downtown Austin after receiving a call around 4:30 p.m. about a person with a gun entering the facility and taking people hostage, according to local reports.

KVUE reported that the suspect turns out to be a doctor.

The parent of a patient at the center confirmed to Fox News that their doctor was being held inside and that the suspect was also a doctor.

A SWAT team arrived at the facility while Austin police negotiated with the suspect during a standoff.

The hostage negotiator has repeatedly begged the suspect for cooperation.

‘I cannot guarantee your safety unless you comply with it. I’ll let you know, Doctor, there’s a way to fix this. I need your help to resolve the situation. That starts with answering the phone, ”the negotiator said according to KVUE.
