Meghan McCain is no stranger to causing a stir for making unpopular statements, and her latest comments on Dr. Anthony Fauci has made her a trending topic again.
During Monday’s episode of The viewMcCain had strong words for the nation’s top infectious disease expert, who serves as director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and oversees the country’s COVID-19 response.

The prominent Republican responded to a recent CNN interview in which Fauci declined to make a recommendation as to whether vaccinated grandparents can visit their unvaccinated children and grandchildren.
“So I was really frustrated when I saw this clip,” said McCain. The TV host went on to emphasize that she “respects” the “tragedy” of the coronavirus pandemic and did not want to “downplay” its devastating impact.
‘That said,’ McCain added, ‘next week it will be a year since we left the studio and I have been very responsible in many different ways, as so many Americans have been. And the fact that Dr. Fauci goes on CNN and he can’t tell me that if I get the vaccine, if I can eat with my family.
“It’s terribly inconsistent coverage and it remains inconsistent coverage,” she said.
But it was McCain’s suggestion that Dr. Fauci doesn’t understand the science and should be removed from his federal position, which seemed to anger some viewers.
‘The fact that I, Meghan McCain, co-host The view, don’t know when and how to get a vaccine because the rollout for my age group and my health is so vague, I have no idea when and how I’ll get it, ”said McCain.

She added: “I want to be responsible and of course wait my turn, but this rollout has been a disaster. And I understand that President Trump can take a lot of the blame, but now we are in the Biden administration and I would like something to look forward to and to hope for because if getting the vaccine just means nothing changes and we have to wait a few more years for everyone to get it, already a lot of people don’t get it. “
“So I’m done with Dr. Fauci,” McCain said. “I think we need more people to give more opinions and frankly I think the government should remove Biden and put in someone who understands the science or who, like these other countries, can talk about how we can do more on these others seem like places that do this successfully. “
McCain’s statements did not go down well with the public, at least according to comments on Twitter.
“This is tone deaf,” tweeted journalist Ernest Owens‘I have a better idea. @ABC, fire McCain for her cheeky sense of justice. “
Meghan McCain said, “The fact that I, Meghan McCain, co-host of the View, don’t know when or how to get a vaccine,” then called for Dr. Fauci to be fired for this is tone-deaf.

“Does Meghan McCain understand that Fauci is an infectious disease expert / medical advisor and that it is not his job to figure out the logistics surrounding vaccine distribution? (this is a rhetorical question, she clearly doesn’t understand), ”said Business insider political reporter John Haltiwanger
Media are important Editor-at-Large Parker Molloy wroteI hereby propose that Meghan McCain be the last person in the US to receive the vaccine. It’s only fair. “
Following McCain’s comments, co-host Sunny Hostin stepped in to help Dr. Fauci and said Trump should be blamed for the country’s pandemic woes, not Fauci.
Formerly disgraced, twice accused, former President Trump downplayed science [and] kept people from following science… other countries didn’t. He politicized masks, he had these superspreader events. As a result, Americans died, ”said Hostin.
‘I think we should listen to the scientists. I don’t think we should belittle Fauci. I don’t think we should belittle the World Health Organization. I don’t think we should belittle the CDC. If we, as Americans, just follow the science and listen to the leaders in these areas who have dedicated their lives to saving lives, we would have been in a much better place. “
