Twins match against Red Sox postponed after Daunte Wright shooting

The Minnesota Twins postpone Monday’s game against the Red Sox after the fatal shooting of Daunte Wright, which sparked widespread protests across the city.

Wright was killed on Sunday afternoon during a traffic stop in Brooklyn Center, a northwestern suburb of Minneapolis. Civil unrest broke out in the city on Sunday evening, which lasted until Monday.

“Out of respect for the tragic events that took place (Sunday) at Brooklyn Center, and based on the additional details in this changing situation, the Minnesota Twins have decided it is in the best interest of our fans, staff, players and community to not to play.Today’s game, ‘the statement read.

The decision was made by the Minnesota Twins after consultation with Major League Baseball and local and state officials. Information on rescheduling today’s match and associated ticket details will be released in the near future.
