A team of firefighters has already begun securing the site and recovering the graves, which must be identified.
Those responsible for sounding the alarm were the employees who were restoring a number of pantheons and who witnessed the collapse of part of the cemetery live by recording it on their cell phones.

The workers recount in the footage broadcast by local media how the ground began to shake and immediately before their eyes, part of the cemetery began to crack and eventually sink to the beach.
The Camogli Cemetery is one of the most appreciated in the place because of the area it is in, in the touristic Italian Riviera overlooking the Ligurian sea.
