Likewise, the TSE has ordered the initiation of an ex officio sanction procedure and has ordered precautionary measures for the New Ideas party and its representatives.

The spot where the resolution was released was posted on Twitter by Mr. Xavier Zablah Bukele, president and legal representative of Nuevas Ideas. The national flag is used in it.

“For the time being it is noted that the content of the video is intended to influence the intention to gain electoral support for the political party New Ideas and uses patriotic symbols,” the TSE said in the February 2, 2021 order.

The electoral authority states that failure to order the suspension of the broadcast or broadcast of the video could be a violation of “the guarantee of free elections and the principle of fairness in the competition”.

The TSE also asks the Presidency of the Republic for a detailed report on, among other things, the production of the spot, the rental and the broadcast period. It also orders the media to send a message about compliance with this resolution during the same period.
