Five lawyers from Donald Trump’s legal team have resigned in recent hours over their disagreements with the former president over the political process he will be subject to in the Senate starting Feb. 8, as reported by CNN.
Just over a week to his second accusation, Trump does not appear to have defined his legal team, said Jason Miller, an adviser to the former president, of NBC News.
South Carolina attorneys Butch Bowers and Deborah Barbier broke up with the former president “mutual decision”, according to a source familiar with the matter.
Josh Howard, a North Carolina attorney who recently joined the team, also resigned; and Johnny Gasser and Greg Harris of South Carolina are also no longer involved in the case, according to another well-known source cited by CNN.

Trump plans to devote his defense to trying to prove again that there was electoral fraud in the presidential election in November (it’s not true: there wasn’t), while lawyers want to focus on the possible illegality of an impeachment. former president who is not in the position, sources quoted.
“We have worked hard, but we have not yet made a final decision on our legal team, which will be taken shortly.”Miller stated in a statement Saturday.
It was unclear whether attorney Josh Howard, who was expected to help represent Trump, is on board. People close to the ex-president cannot publicly identify anyone on his legal team with just over a week to go before the trial begins.
Miller said Trump himself will likely release a statement on the matter in the coming days.
Trump does not intend to appear in person to defend himself against the charge of instigating the attack on the Capitol on January 6.
