Trump’s team was ecstatic about the result as the members posed for photos and joked with each other.

Michael van der Veen, a Trump attorney, punched another member of the team with fists and said, “We’re going to Disney World,” said Senate pool reporter on Saturday, USA Today’s Christal Hayes.

Trump was acquitted after the five-day Senate trial by 57-43 votes. Sixty-seven votes were needed to reach a conviction, requiring two-thirds of the votes. Seven Republicans voted to condemn Trump, along with every Democrat in the room.

Trump was impeached by the House for inciting the mob that attacked the Capitol on Jan. 6.

His lawyers argued that his pre-election comments were protected by the First Amendment and that it is not possible to convict a former president who cannot be removed from office.

Democratic impeachment managers argued that it is possible to convict a former president and that this would have led to a vote to dissuade Trump from running.
