Trump will award Patriots coach Medal of Freedom

President Trump plans to award Bill Belichick, the New England Patriots’ coach, the Medal of Freedom this week in an effort to return to normal after the Capitol riots, calling for his second impeachment. said a report on Sunday.

With just a few days left in the Oval Office, Trump will make a last-minute presidential power flex by honoring the Super Bowl-winning mastermind – and other longtime supporters – with the highest civilian honor, according to Politico.com

Trump also plans to kill Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) to deliver the award Monday – the same day Democrats are expected to introduce articles of impeachment against him.

On Tuesday, Trump will visit part of the US border wall in Alamo, Texas, less than a week after five people died in the right-wing siege of the US Capitol.

And on Thursday, he will give Belichick the Presidential Medal of Freedom, which historically honors people for “security or national interests of the United States, world peace, cultural or other important public or private endeavors.”

The events are long in the works, a Trump employee told the outlet.

In 2016, Trump bragged that Belichick had written him a letter congratulating him on “a great campaign.”

A Patriots representative did not immediately respond to Politico’s request for comment.
