Anonymous sources told the news outlet that Trump is considering choosing a woman or a colored person to be his running mate and drop Pence.

The report comes after the former president’s tumultuous past weeks in which Trump publicly pressured Pence to reverse the 2020 election results during the congressional certification process.

Pence did not have the authority to reverse the election results, as his role as Senate President during this process is largely ceremonial.

Tensions between Trump and Pence ran feverishly during the uprising at the Capitol on Jan. 6, when rioters broke through the building’s security and chanted about the former vice president’s arrest and hanging.

Before the break, Trump gave a speech on the Ellipse encouraging his supporters to march to the Capitol and demand that Congress drop certification.

According to Bloomberg, the sources said Trump is looking at people who assisted him through the end of his presidency after the Capitol riots.

Trump adviser Jason Miller responded to Bloomberg’s report in a tweet calling it “fake news,” saying “no such conversations take place. “

The former president recently told Newsmax’s Mark Halpern that he didn’t think another Republican could beat him in a primaries if he decided to flee again in 2024.

“I did a good job for this party,” Trump said. “We had the largest economy in history and then we rebuilt it a second time and the foundations were so strong that no other country can even compete with us.”

“I think based on job performance, I’m not sure anyone else could win than us,” added the former president.

The news comes as the Republican party has gone through a rift, with some lawmakers and leaders looking to push ahead on a pro-Trump platform, and others looking to break out of the former president’s grasp.
