DALLAS – Supporters of President Donald Trump got into an angry shouting match with other passengers on an American Airlines plane to Washington after projecting a “Trump 2020” logo on the ceiling and walls of the cabin.
Trump supporters said a passenger threatened to kill them, and shouted back and forth. A flight attendant intervened and told a passenger in the aisle to sit down.
The incident occurred Tuesday night after American’s Flight 1291 from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport landed at Dulles International Airport outside Washington, DC, taxiing to the gate.
The scene was posted on Twitter by Maranie Staab, an independent journalist from Portland, Oregon, who says on her website that she focuses on human rights and social justice issues.
“Our team is reviewing this incident,” said American Airlines spokesman Curtis Blessing. “We applaud our outstanding crew for their professionalism in de-escalating a tense situation on board and getting our customers safely to their destination.”
American said law enforcement had not been called and passengers left and dispersed without further incident.
