Trump Organization adds veteran criminal defense attorney

The Trump Organization has engaged veteran criminal defense attorney Ronald Fischetti to represent the real estate company in the Manhattan district attorney’s ongoing investigation into the former President TrumpDonald Trump Gaetz trip to Bahamas is part of federal investigation into sex traffickingbusiness and finance.

The Wall Street Journal first reported that the Trump organization was detained this week Ronald Fischetti as part of his team.

Fischetti is a former legal partner of Mark Pomerantz, the former federal prosecutor currently working on the investigation for Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance Jr.’s office. (D) said the Journal.

Alan Futerfas, a lawyer for the Trump organization, told the paper he was “delighted” to welcome Fischetti, who has decades of experience as a lawyer in both state and federal courts.

“He brings with him extraordinary experience, a depth of knowledge and wisdom that are invaluable and that we appreciate so much,” added Futerfas.

Fischetti confirmed to the Journal that he had joined the Trump organization’s legal team, saying, “I am delighted to be defending this.”

Major former clients of the 84-year-old attorney include former Senator Albert Carmichael Jr. (D) of the state of South Carolina, who was convicted of buying votes in a Democratic primary in 1980, and former U.S. Representative Robert Garcia (D) and his wife, whose corruption convictions were made public in 1989 destroyed.

Vance’s probe, that started In 2018 to investigate Trump’s alleged hush money payments to women who claimed to have had affairs with him before the 2016 election, has since expanded to include the business dealings and finances of the former president’s family.

The Trump Organization has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing, and Trump and his allies have called the investigation a politically motivated “ witch hunt. ”

Vance’s office in February officially adopted Pomerantz as a special prosecutor. Pomerantz “has assisted CEOs in litigation brought by the Justice Department and the SEC,” said his biography on the website from Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP, where he takes leave of absence.

That same month the prosecutor’s office obtained Trump’s tax returns from his accounting firm, Mazars USA, after a lengthy legal dispute that resulted in the Supreme Court rejecting an attempt by Trump’s lawyers to shield the documents.

In addition to reviews of documents related to the former president’s and his family’s business dealings, the district attorney’s office also conducted interviews with a number of individuals, including Trump’s former personal attorney. Cohen, who has become one of Trump’s most outspoken critics in recent years, has met with Vance’s office at least eight times for interviews.
