Former President of the United States Donald Trump has appointed two new attorneys responsible for leading the legal team that will defend him in the impeachment brought against him, after the resignation of five of the members of his previous defense just over a week after the impeachment against the ex-president.
According to the American television network CNN, David Schoen and Bruce L. Castor will lead the team for the impeachment.
Schoen is the chairman of the Criminal Justice Subcommittee of the Civil Rights Litigation Committee of the American Bar Association and, according to its website, “it focuses mainly on the dispute resolution of complex civil and criminal cases before courts of first instance and appellate.”
Castor, for his part, is a well-known Pennsylvania attorney who previously served as a Montgomery County district attorney.
Both were already working with the former leader in his defense, his team said in a statement released this Sunday.
Tensions with the attorneys who were part of his legal team had grown thereafter Trump’s insistence to focus his defensive arguments on the baseless electoral fraud theories he has been promoting since the November 3 presidential election.

In contrast, some of his legal team considered a better strategy to rely on the constitutionality of condemning a former president. Given the differences, the team of the former White House resident announced on Saturday that Butch Bowers and Deborah Barbire, two of those who considered themselves the chief attorneys for the impeachment, had resigned.
Trump’s accusation of “inciting insurgency” following the attack on the Capitol by his supporters will begin in the second week of February, when the Senate is expected to confirm the majority of the Biden administration.
In the last days Faced with the growing difficulty of getting enough Republican votes to pass the motion and prevent Trump from running for public officeSome moderate representatives have been working on a resolution in which they “censor” the president, who would be easier for Republican senators to support.
For many of this party’s senators, Trump should not be impeached, as he has already left the presidency in favor of Joe Biden.
