Twitter temporarily suspended Trump’s account for the first time on Wednesday due to reports the president shared about the crowd of his supporters storming the Capitol. The platform said the messages violated their policy and demanded that the president remove them before regaining access to his account.
A Twitter spokesperson said on Thursday that the tweets have been deleted and, according to Twitter policy, Trump will be able to access his account within 12 hours of being deleted.
Facebook also suspended Trump’s account, as well as his Instagram account, for 24 hours on Wednesday after deleting its posts about the Capitol riots.

A Twitter spokesperson said the company had no information to share as of late Thursday morning regarding the possible extension of the suspension on Trump’s Twitter account until the January 20 inauguration.
Wednesday marked the most drastic action the platforms have taken against Trump’s accounts.
The move was triggered by a one-minute video Trump posted urging his supporters pushing his way to the Capitol to go home, but in the video he also echoed unsubstantiated claims about widespread electoral fraud.
The video was removed early Wednesday night by Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
Trump followed up with a similar text message on Facebook and Twitter, which was also later removed before the platforms closed Trump’s account.
Amid the suspension of his account, Trump released a statement shared on Twitter by Dan Scavino, the White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Communications, acknowledging the end of his tenure.
“Even though I totally disagree with the outcome of the election, and the facts confirm me, there will be an orderly transition on January 20,” Trump said in Scavino’s statement. “I always said we would continue our fight. To make sure that only legal votes were counted. While this marks the end of the best first term in presidential history, this is only the beginning of our battle for America great again. to make! “
The statement was shared just minutes after Congressional lawmakers formally drafted the votes of the Electoral College and demonstrated Biden’s victory, shortly before 4am.
