Country star Trisha Yearwood has contracted the new coronavirus COVID-19, her husband Garth Brooks announced on Facebook on Wednesday.
Brooks, 59, and Yearwood, 56, “are currently at home in quarantine after a recent positive Covid test by a member of their team,” said Team Garth’s message Wednesday evening.
“Subsequent tests they’ve had in recent days have shown that Trisha contracted Covid, while Garth remains negative.”
“Officially,” adds Brooks, however, Yearwood is now “being diagnosed as being ‘out of the tunnel,’ for which I am extremely grateful.”
The recent winter storms that covered much of the country left Yearwood and Brooks from being tested for some time.
“Anyone who knows me knows my world begins and ends with Miss Yearwood, so she and I will ride through this together,” Brooks said. “And everyone who knows her knows she’s a fighter and she’s doing everything right, so I know we’re going to leave the other side of this thing together.”
Yearwood is “okay so far, but dealing with symptoms,” but Brooks adds that “the possible long-term effects on her [voice] concerns me as her husband and as a fan, “noting:” We are fortunate that she currently enjoys the utmost care in treating and healing singers in the best city. ”
Years before the romance, Yearwood and Brooks were friends and musical partners; when they first met, they were both married to other people. After their respective divorces, they began dating in 2002, and Brooks proposed in 2005 that Yearwood be on stage; the couple married later that year and Yearwood became a stepmother to Brooks’ three daughters from his previous marriage
Brooks, a registered Republican, jumped back into the spotlight in January when he performed at President Biden’s inauguration. He will also be honored at the annual Kennedy Center Honors in May.
