Mexico City /
After a long 32-year career as the players’ confidant in the Mexican team and to join El Tri on many adventures, Gonzalo Saldaña, a mainstay of the national team, died this Saturday as a victim of Covid-19.
News that breaks our hearts. Thank you for your dedication, professionalism and love for these colors for so many years, Gonzalo.
Rest in peace. ???????? pic.twitter.com/QGG22pZdpf

Through social networks, footballers of the Aztec team regretted the departure of those who were part of the Tricolor team, regardless of the coach who arrived. Goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa was one of the first to mourn the death of Saldaña And he said goodbye with a photo showing Ochoa talking to the utility worker.
Rest in peace friend, you will be missed at all times, you enjoyed the selection. Hug to Heaven Gonza ???????? pic.twitter.com/Jb7Jn9N3KQ

Gonzalo was completely trusted by all the elements that went through Selection. He had a whole protocol to take care of the uniforms and have everything ready for the comfort of the footballer.
He liked to arrive at the stadiums 4 hours earlier to have everything properly arranged for the moment of the match of the national team, which he accompanied at World Cup football such as Russia or Brazil. He even posed in the first pictures of the competitions with those selected in his sweatshirt uniform.
How sad to wake up to know that my dear Gonzalo Saldaña (Utilero de la sele) was on the road ahead of us because of this virus. My condolences to his whole family and that his wife is also from this virus! Hug to the sky, my “Gonzi” will miss you ???? ❤️ Fu..kCovid ????
