Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Developer Treyarch recently made a change to the movement speed of players when landing a jump.
The change – which was rolled out as part of the update that rolled out on February 4 – came as an attempt to curb “jumpshotting”, allowing experienced players to move quickly and even aim down, even after jumping.
Although the developer disclosed just a day later that it “would continue to monitor this change in the live environment and make further tuning changes as needed”, earlier today it amended it again, this time affirming that it had “slightly lowered” the penalties.

Little else was said, but it’s probably safe to assume the studio will continue to monitor things in an effort to curb the behavior while also making fans who jumpshot happy too.
A new Call of Duty game will be released later this year, according to Activision Blizzard’s Q4 2020 earnings call. Activision CFO Dennis Durkin discussed what the company has in store for the Call of Duty franchise, which by 2021 will have “the largest player community it has ever had to start a year.”
The Call of Duty franchise has been hugely successful over the past year, with the free to play Call of Duty: Warzone with tons of new players and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War bringing back the ever-popular zombies mode. With the integration of the two, Activision has shown its determination to keep Warzone as a constant in the Call of Duty universe while adding new standalone titles.
Black Ops Cold War was released on November 13, 2020, which is Call of Duty by default, so the next title in the Call of Duty franchise will likely release in a similar timeframe this year – especially around the holidays.
