Trevor Rosenthal signs with Athletics after Mets’ fliration

Trevor Rosenthal will not report to Port St. Lucie for spring training.

According to multiple reports, the top reliever left in the free agent market will instead join the athletics bullets for a one-year deal worth $ 11 million.

Rosenthal, who was split between the Royals and Padres last season, will likely replace Liam Hendriks as the A’s closer rather than boosting the Mets’ bullpen. The Mets had recently stayed in touch with Rosenthal, The Post’s Mike Puma reported Monday, in light of Seth Lugo’s surgery and the club’s missing Justin Wilson.

30-year-old Rosenthal, who was the Cardinals’ close before undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2017, posted a 1.90 ERA last season with 11 saves.

Heading into spring practice, the Mets had added to their bullpen by signing right-handed Trevor May on a two-year $ 15.5 million contract and left-handed Aaron Loup for a one-year deal of $ 3 million. They also added RHP Tommy Hunter and LHP Mike Montgomery to minor league deals.
