Tory Lanez asks to speak publicly about the Megan Thee Stallion case

Tory Lanez wants his voice to be heard.

The “Luv” singer filed a motion on Tuesday to change the terms of a protection order that prevents him from publicly commenting on his ongoing case with Megan Thee Stallion.

In court documents provided to Page Six, Lanez’s legal team alleges that the current warrant – issued on November 18 – is “significantly harmful” to the 28-year-old and “jeopardizes his right to a fair and legal process” .

Megan, 25, is not subject to the terms of the protective court order, and Lanez’s lawyers have highlighted in the new motion how outspoken she was on the case on social media.

Earlier this month, “Body” rapper Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, appeared to be hitting Twitter after inaccurate reports were released online claiming charges against him had been dropped.

“Bitch, you shot me AND MY STORY WILL NOT CHANGE AND BH YOU ARE GOING TO JAIL,” she tweeted.

Megan also called Lanez earlier over the summer, almost a month after the alleged shooting incident occurred.

“Yes, this one after Tory shot me,” she claimed on Instagram Live. ‘You shot me, and your publicist and your people are going to lie to these blogs and st. Stop lying. Why lie? “

Contrary to Mr. Peterson’s silence, Megan [Pete] wrote and posted six tweets in quick succession to her 5.6 million Twitter followers, ” Lanez’s lawyers said in the motion on Tuesday, adding that the current injunction prohibits the ‘Say It’ rapper from commenting on the ‘incendiary pronunciations’.

Prior to the protective warrant, Lanez maintained his innocence on social media and in his music.

He said in an Instagram rant in October: “She knows what happened, I know what happened, and we know what you say and [that] the alleged things and the alleged accusations of my name is [sic] are not true. “

In September he also released a new song entitled ‘Money Over Fallouts’ in which he sang, ‘How the fk you get shot in your foot, don’t hit no bone or tendons?’

A source told Page Six that Lanez’s team wants the protection order to be lifted in order to “freely discuss what his lawyer [has been] given.”

According to court documents, Lanez’s lawyers claim there is new evidence supporting the rapper’s innocence and allegedly “contradicting” Megan’s statements.

This evidence – including powder residue implying others – is mitigating, if not exculpatory, and casts serious doubt on Megan’s claims [Pete], ”It says in the documents. “In addition to the scientific evidence, people are aware of it, witnesses who observed the alleged events also provide information that implies others.”

In November, Lanez pleaded not guilty to one felony, each of assault with a semi-automatic firearm and carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle. He can face up to 22 years and eight months in prison if convicted. A hearing is scheduled for February 25.

Megan’s attorney Alex Spiro told Page Six exclusively on Tuesday: “ Didn’t the motion mention there was powder residue on his hands or that he texted her ‘Sorry? ‘I haven’t had a chance to read it. ”

Lanez’s representative did not immediately respond to our request for comment.
