All the aliens in our galaxy have probably already destroyed themselves – the victims of too much progress, says a new scientific study.
Researchers at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory and the California Institute of Technology have suspected that since previous studies show that the technological advancements of a civilization will “ inevitably lead to complete destruction and biological degeneration, ” any intelligent life earlier in the Milky Way likely will already killed.
“[I]If intelligent life is likely to self-destruct, it is not surprising that there is little or no intelligent life elsewhere, ”the researchers said in a paper posted online earlier this month.
The scientists also theorized that humans are late to the party, because peak conditions for developing life likely occurred about 8 billion years after the formation of the galaxy – and we got to about 13.5 billion years after the birth of the Milky Way. Milky Way out, according to the Live Science website.
