Toney leaves Pitt; Enters NCAA Transfer Portal

PITTSBURGH – Head coach of the University of Pittsburgh Jeff Capel announced junior’s departure Au’this Toney Thursday. Toney goes to the NCAA Transfer Portal.
“We have come to the mutual agreement that Au’Diese [Toney] will leave the Pitt Men’s Basketball program with immediate effect, “said Capel. We appreciate his efforts over the past three seasons in our program and wish him the best with his appearance to continue to grow on and off the field. “
Toney, who missed the Panthers’ last game with an injury, averaged 14.4 points, 5.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. He scored 12 times in double digits with three games with 20 or more runs scored. He ended his Pitt career with 763 points, 423 rebounds and 80 steals.
Pitt returns to action on Sunday, Feb. 28 in NC State (4 p.m. – ACC Network). The Panthers are 9-9 on the season with a 5-8 mark in conference play with three more ACC games left.
