Tom Hanks reveals he’s shaved his head for a part, and he’s not thrilled

The 64-year-old actor revealed (very briefly) his new look during a performance Tuesday on “The Graham Norton Show”.

Hanks was conspicuously wearing a baseball cap for most of that performance. At one point, he explained that he was currently in Australia filming Baz Luhrmann’s upcoming Elvis Presley biopic, in which he plays Presley’s manager Colonel Tom Parker.

“Let me show you the awful haircut I must have to portray Colonel Tom Parker,” Hanks said, doing everything he could to hide his unfortunate haircut. Look at this awful … See that? Do you have to see that thing? ‘

Then Hanks dived for about a second, revealing his hairless scalp. If you blinked, you may have missed it.

But judging by the screams of the audience, everyone saw it.

‘I scared the kids. I want to apologize, ”Hanks said.

While Hanks’s bald look came as a surprise to many of his fans, it’s not the first time the actor wore this look.

Before the coronavirus pandemic started (and before he and his wife, actress Rita Wilson, were diagnosed with the virus), Hanks was doing preproduction work for the same film in Australia.
In April, he appeared on “Saturday Night Live” from home and explained what was wrong with his hair – or the lack thereof.

“Don’t worry now, don’t be afraid,” he told the audience. “This shaven head was only for a movie and my hair is growing back very slowly. It saves time in the shower so I don’t know if we should do it all, right?”
