Tom Brady’s two TD passes to Rob Gronkowski and one to Antonio Brown will have Buccaneers rolling in Super Bowl 2021

TAMPA, Fla. Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady lured tight-ending Rob Gronkowski out of a one-year retirement spell and convinced the Bucs to take a gamble on wide receiver Antonio Brown, who was out of football a year ago.

Those two players played out well for Brady in the first half of Super Bowl LV on Sunday, with Gronkowski catching two touchdown passes and Brown a third to give the Bucs a 21-6 lead over the Kansas City Chiefs at half time.

Brown’s 1-yard touchdown came on a corner run against defensive defender Tyrann Mathieu with 10 seconds to go in half.

In the first quarter, Brady made contact with Gronk for their 13th postseason touchdown on an 8-yard pass, surpassing Joe Montana and Jerry Rice for the most post-season TDs by a QB receiver combo in NFL history. It was also the first time in Brady’s 10 Super Bowls that he scored a touchdown in the first quarter.

On the action, which gave the Bucs a 7-3 lead, Gronkowski ran over the back of the formation into the flat. It was Gronkowski’s fourth career to receive a touchdown in the Super Bowl, breaking a five-player draw for second-place finish in Super Bowl history.

He now only follows Rice, who has eight.

Brady and Gronk would repeat that magic in the second quarter. The Bucs lined up for a 40-yard field goal after stopping deep in Kansas City, but the Chiefs’ Antonio Hamilton jumped offside and gave the Bucs a first down.

On the next action, Brady found Gronkowski for a 17-yard touchdown pass, with Gronk pretending to run to the corner of the end zone before turning in and losing L’Jarius Sneed, extending the Bucs’ lead to 14- 3.
