Tom Brady’s attempt to troll Tony Dungy goes terribly wrong

Tom Brady may want another try.

The future Hall of Famer was not friendly to former Colts coach Tony Dungy who hailed Brady as the sixth hardest quarterback to play against, and in response tweeted an image of the Colts’ ‘AFC Finalist’ banner from 2014.

It would have been quite a fire if Dungy, not Chuck Pagano, had been the Colts’ head coach that season, when Brady’s Patriots knocked down Indianapolis, 45-14, in the AFC title game on his way to his fourth of six Super Bowls.

Dungy retired in 2008 – two years after coaching the Colts for an AFC championship win over the Brady-led Patriots.

The Colts won the Super Bowl to end that 2006 season. It followed years of heartbreak in the playoffs by the patriots, so maybe Brady just got them mixed up.

“Who I put in front of Tom Brady: Aaron Rodgers, John Elway, Steve Young, guys who could move,” Dungy said on Shannon Sharpe’s podcast. “Not to say Tom wasn’t great, but that extra dimension meant something to me.”

Dungy, 65, is currently an NFL analyst for NBC, while Brady, 43, left the Patriots for the Buccaneers last spring. Tampa Bay is 9-5 and in the hunt for a playoff spot.

The Colts’ unusual habit of hanging banners signaling a trip to the conference’s championship game is because “recognizing an NFL playoff season – regardless of the ending – is an accomplishment to be proud of,” she said. Colts COO Pete Ward in 2015 at NFL.com.
