Nile Rodgers said on social media on Sunday that his mother Beverly Goodman has died after an Alzheimer’s battle.

Chic’s co-founder opened up last week about the fear he experienced from not being able to interact with her in person while on vacation as she was hospitalized under strict medical protocols amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Rodgers told The Mirror earlier this month about his family history of the disease.

“Six family members have had Alzheimer’s,” he said. ‘We are talking about my mother who currently has Alzheimer’s. And my mother’s sister, my aunt, died of Alzheimer’s. And their mother, my maternal grandmother died of it, and my maternal grandmother’s sister – my great aunt – she died of it. And her daughter died from it too. And my uncle too. ‘

Rodgers received condolences from his colleagues after the gloomy announcement

Rodgers told The Mirror about his family history of the disease earlier this month, saying he had six family members die of the disease.

He told the publication about his work with the music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins and the impact of music on communicating with people.

“I believe the charity is doing the kind of work that should be done all over the world,” he said. ‘I believe musicians are good ambassadors and it is great to spread this kind of goodness and love all over the world.
