
(CNN Español) – Three candidates wishing for the presidency of Ecuador cannot vote in the country this Sunday for various reasons.
Andrés Arauz, who emerged as one of the favorites for the election next Sunday, February 7, according to some polls, will not be able to vote in the country as he is registered on the electoral roll of Ecuadorians living in Mexico. information from the Electoral National Council (CNE).

A second candidate for the presidency, Juan Fernando Velasco, will also not be able to vote because he is registered in Miami. Velasco of the Construye movement (center) has a recognized career in the music industry and was based in South Florida before entering politics.
CNN confirmed on the CNE website that neither is listed on the Ecuadorian election register.
The fact that Arauz and Velasco are not registered in Ecuador does not affect their applications.

On the eve of the election, candidate Guillermo Celi, of the Suma movement (center), announced on social networks that he had tested positive for a routine covid-19 test, so he will also not be able to be present to vote.
