Three adults and two children killed in South Carolina shooting; the suspect is under arrest | Univision News Shootings

A suspect was found after hours of searching after a shooting in South Carolina late Wednesday left five fatalities, including two children and a prominent doctor, authorities said.

The York County Sheriff’s Office said the suspect was found in a nearby house. Details of his arrest were not immediately released, the AP reported.

The York County coroner’s office noted that Dr. Robert Lesslie, 70, and his wife, Barbara Lesslie, the 69, were pronounced dead at the scene of the events, along with the grandchildren Adah Lesslie, 9, and Noah Lesslie, 5

A fifth victim, James Lewis, 38, from Gaston, was found dead outside. Authorities said he had been working in the house when he was shot.

York County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Trent Faris said a sixth person was hospitalized with “serious gunshot wounds”The status is unknown.

Faris reported that the sheriff’s deputies were called to the house in the Rock Hill area around 4:45 PM.

“We are surprised that incidents like this have taken place here,” said Faris. “It’s not happening here. It’s one of those strange things that a lot of people will have a hard time understanding and we just hope everyone knows we’ll do everything we can to find out why this happened here in Rock Hill, Carolina. South”.

The sheriff’s office spent hours looking for the suspect before finding him.

A very distinguished and well-known doctor

Faris said that Dr. Lesslie was a prominent figure in Rock Hill.

“I have lived in Rock Hill all my life and Dr. Lesslie was my doctor growing up,” said Faris. “Dr. Lesslie is one of those people everyone knows. He started Riverview Medical Center in Rock Hill and has been a staple in Rock Hill for years.”

Dr. Robert Lesslie has been practicing at Rock Hill since 1981, according to the Riverview website. He graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina and has worked around Rock Hill and Charlotte, North Carolina.

Rock Hill is a city in the far north of South Carolina about 25 miles southwest of Charlotte, North Carolina.
