This week IKEA launched its first line of PC gaming furniture at Dezeen and created a guide to wood in architecture, interiors and design.
The IKEA collection of desks, chairs and accessories was created in collaboration with the popular hardware brand Republic of Gamers and is designed to make professional gamer setups more accessible.
“The needs of billions of gamers around the world are very diverse, while the existing offering is quite technical and often perceived as masculine in design, despite approximately 46 percent of gamers being female,” said Ewa Rychert, global company leader at the area of workplaces. at IKEA.

A largely digital version of Stockholm Design Week took place this week, which was attended by a hologram version of British designer Tom Dixon.
We gathered 10 of the best projects from the showcase’s Greenhouse showcase of emerging talent, while the Misschiefs exhibition presents “a more punk side of Swedish design”.




In New York, residents of the supertall skyscraper 432 Park Avenue, designed by Rafael Viñoly, reported numerous problems, including flooding and being stuck in elevators.
Also in town, architecture studio Skidmore Owings and Merrill unveiled their plans to build a super-sized skyscraper on the site of Donald Trump’s old Grand Hyatt hotel.




In other architecture news, three UK studios unveiled a series of upcoming projects. Grimshaw unveiled visuals of its latest barn-shaped ventilation shaft for the UK’s HS2 high-speed train.
Zaha Hadid Architects is designing an exhibition center in Beijing with a roof landscape inspired by tiled roofs in traditional Chinese architecture. And Foster + Partners revealed images of a resort to be built on a Saudi Arabian island in the Red Sea.




As the impact of Brexit continues to be felt in the UK, designers told Dezeen that “everything has become an administrative nightmare” with companies stopping exports and setting up offices in the European Union (EU) to avoid losing customers.
Also as a “direct response” to the UK’s departure from the EU, architecture studio Rogers Stirk Harbor + Partners announced its decision to set up an office in Paris.

Popular projects this week included a house clad in charred pine on the coast of Chile, a house in India with an egg-shaped garden temple, and a steel hut in Lithuania.
This week’s lookbook focused on cozy living rooms that place the fireplace in the heart of the room.
