To help Michiganders get vaccinated against COVID-19, a local marijuana dispensary is offering a “Pot for Shots” promotion.
Anyone who provides written evidence that they have received a COVID-19 vaccine at the Greenhouse of Walled Lake will receive a free pre-rolled joint, the pharmacy says in a press release.
“Our goal is to raise awareness of the importance of getting the COVID-19 vaccination as a community as we fight this terrible pandemic,” owner Jerry Millen said in a statement. “’Pot for Shots’ is our way of demonstrating our commitment to helping the community return to normal. We support the safe and responsible use of cannabis and hope that this is the beginning of the end of this insidious pandemic.”
No purchase is necessary. The Greenhouse of Walled Lake is located at 103 E. Walled Lake Dr., Walled Lake; 833-644-7336; greenhousemi.com.
Health officials fear that if not enough people are vaccinated, the pandemic will last a long time, allowing the virus to mutate into other strands. Over the weekend, officials reported that a Washtenaw County woman who recently traveled to the UK tested positive for a more contagious variant of the virus.
Fueled by mistrust of the government and historic incidents of racism, less than half of Americans said they will definitely get the vaccine, and about a quarter said they won’t, according to a recent Associated Press-NORC survey. Center for Public Affairs Research.
Vaccines will be a priority for frontline workers and the elderly, with the rest of us expected to have access in the coming months. You can read more about vaccination prioritization here.
