This Massachusetts College is one of the first to distribute the COVID-19 vaccine – NBC Boston

Northeastern University says it is one of the first colleges in the country to administer doses of the coronavirus vaccine to staff members.

Massachusetts has sent about 200 doses of Moderna’s vaccine to the school, about half of which has already been provided, officials say.

The state gave it to the school so that it could give the vaccine to those in the state’s first group eligible to receive one, including health professionals.

Officials say those vaccinated on Tuesday are working in Northeastern’s testing centers and building health advisory services. About 100 people have already received the first round of the vaccine.

School officials expect it to receive COVID-19 vaccines from both Pfizer and Moderna, depending on the supply. But as more come in, they hope the school will be able to give at least 1,000 shots a day at some point.
