When it comes to the great debate between iOS and Android, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates knows which side he’s on.
According to 9to5Google, Gates shared his preferences in a recent audio interview via the Clubhouse app. It may come as no surprise that he’s a solid team of Android.
Gates told journalist Andrew Ross Sorkin and Clubhouse co-founder Paul Davidson that, after stating that he preferred Android in the past, nothing has changed. While he has an iPhone handy in case he wants to use it for any reason (like using the clubhouse with iPhone only), he has an everyday Android device.
Clubhouse is an app that only allows you to make audio calls. The social network is like a huge series of podcast-style conversations. At the moment, it is currently invitation only and only iPhone users can join.
Gates prefers the more open nature of the Android ecosystem because it is more “flexible” about how software interacts with the operating system.
“I’m actually using an Android phone,” Gates told Sorkin. “Because I want to keep track of everything, I often play with iPhones, but the one I carry with me happens to be Android. Some Android manufacturers pre-install Microsoft software in a way that makes it easy for me. “It is with the operating system. So I got used to that. In 2019, Gates admitted that the way he dealt with Microsoft’s own cell phone division was “ his biggest mistake. ” Microsoft eventually let Google transform Android into the only real rival to the iPhone. During the interview, Davidson indicated that an Android version of Clubhouse may be on the way. He called it a “top feature,” which could mean the iPhone clubhouse would soon disappear.
