This is the website where the COVID-19 vaccination day can be scheduled

The process must be carried out according to the priority age groups. In this way, starting next Wednesday, people over 80 years old and patients with chronic illness can start applying for their appointment to apply for the first dose, authorities said.

Ministry of Health authorities provided more details on Tuesday evening about the vaccination mechanism against COVID-19 that they will implement from Wednesday to develop the second phase of the plan, which will begin with the adult population over 50 years old and those with chronic diseases.

Minister Francisco Alabí announced that Salvadorans should apply for their vaccination appointment through the website vaccinationcovid19.gob.sv. The process needs to be developed “according to age groups,” so that it is orderly, he said.

In this way, from next Wednesday, people over 80 and patients with chronic diseases can reserve their quotas to apply for the first dose.

These are the six steps to follow to sign up for the vaccination system and request an appointment.

It indicates that when opening the web portal, the unique identity document (DUI) number and date of birth must be entered to validate the information. “This also applies to foreigners, adults over 80 years old with a temporary or permanent residence.” This is the message that should appear.

“In order for the vaccination process to be efficient, no one who has not scheduled an appointment will be vaccinated through the official channels of the Ministry of Health,” the official warned.

Regarding those who do not have access to the Internet, he stated that “health promoters will make door-to-door visits in the interior to facilitate access to the anti-COVID-19 vaccine for all” of these people.

The official said in the coming days he will be informed “about other mechanisms so that the population can agree on their vaccination.” In addition, he reiterated the population to continue with health measures against the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

Minister Alabí had announced in the morning that there would be a digital platform where Salvadorans would have to sign up to register and get an appointment to access the dose. The vaccine is voluntary.

According to health data, about 2,148,400 of these are included in the immunization prioritization plan for the new phase starting Wednesday, with 1,398,400 estimated to correspond to the population over 50 years old and 750,000 to patients with chronic illnesses between the ages of 18 to 50.

However, the information on the progress of the vaccination process cannot be verified because the government has classified all information about vaccines, including purchases, as reserved.

The Ministry of Health (Minsal) stated that information related to the application and purchase of vaccines is completely reserved against COVID-19, prohibiting access to this data for periods of 3 to 5 years, according to an Index document of reserved information from the Minsal, updated March 11 on its transparency site.

Bukele also said on Sunday that a batch of 150,000 vaccines will enter the country this Tuesday evening to be donated by China.
