WhatsApp’s statuses, the ephemeral content of the messaging application, allow users to share personalized updates in various formats, and are presented on these dates as an option to congratulate friends and family on Christmas.
Statuses allow users to share updates that disappear after 24 hours, be it a text, a video, a photo, or a gif. They can also be customized with elements such as ‘stickers’, filters or text, and have a maximum duration of 30 seconds.
This type of content can become a “Christmas sharing window” in chats, and animate the celebration from afar, such as with a Christmas contest to see who placed the most lights in their home.
The visibility of the statuses can be configured to be visible to all contacts, exceptions can be entered (visible to everyone except …) or limited to a group of people (only share with …).
HOW TO UPLOAD A WHATSAPP STATUS
Uploading a status to WhatsApp is as easy as opening the application. In it, on the main page, users will find three tabs at the top (chats, statuses, and calls). You just have to go to ‘states’.
Once inside, they will see that it says ‘My status’ next to your profile picture. By clicking directly on this option, they can open the camera -if they want to share a photo or video- or the gallery, from which they can select the desired content.
Once selected, they can edit it or add a comment. When they are done, they just have to hit the submit button to publish it.
Contact updates are also displayed on the statuses tab. To see them, you just have to click on them, they open in a larger window. And while it plays, users can comment on it.
