This is how “Bamba” Díaz remembered his sister, the Salvadoran surfer who died by lightning

A few hours after his departure, the former surfer and president of the Federation shared a postcard with Katherine Díaz

The moment is difficult for the Díaz family after the death of the Salvadoran surfer Katherine. The silence for the impotence and pain that overwhelms them is clear and genuine, to keep mourning his tragic death.

However, José “el Bamba” Díaz, his older brother, ex-surfer and current president of the Salvadoran Surf Federation (Fesasurf), shared a few short words for his sister on his social networks.

On his Instagram account, ‘Bamba’ posted a photo with his sister Kathy. Both in El Tunco, La Libertad, smiling and with their postcard of authentic surfers. One last goodbye, to say goodbye to a top athlete.

“Sweet forever, little sister,” Diaz concluded, accompanying his mail with tears and hands in prayer.
Many athletes have extended their displays of affection and pain with condolences to Díaz and his family. Among them are Marcelo Castellanos, surf coach; Alex Larín, player for Xelajú de Guatemala; Porfirio Miranda, national surfer; Raúl Renderos, former CS FAS player; and entertainment personalities such as Roberto Acosta, Verónica Guerrero, among others.

Also on his personal Facebook account, “Bamba” changed and updated his personal photo for a photo of his sister, who died at the age of 22 after being struck by lightning when she entered the water to surf. In the picture, “Katu”, as her acquaintances and friends called her, appears next to her surfboard, her passion for life.

They did not wait for the comments, from sports characters, nor for the personal publications in their surfer networks such as Bryan Pérez, Josselyn Alabí and other local selections. All with pictures with Kathy and words of encouragement and goodbyes.
