This Bears 2021 mock draft sends help to insult with the first four choices

With a free NFL agency just days away, the team needs breakdown for the 2021 NFL Draft will change drastically with each signing. So now take a mock tour with a grain of salt.

Take NBC Sports Chicago’s latest mock version of Adam Hoge. He has the Bears attack with their first four selections.

In Round 1, Hoge lets the Bears take Virginia Tech’s offensive tackle, Christian Darrisaw. It’s a great choice, especially in light of the team’s decision to part with Bobby Massie. Darrisaw is an absolute stud and a top 10 player on my plate. He would be of great value if he hits number 20.

In lap 2 – at No. 52 – he lands the Minnesota Bears WR Rashod Bateman.

See if Chicago comes out of the first two rounds with Darrisaw and Bateman? Remember that a dream comes true. But it is not going to happen. Bateman is a player in the first round and there is little to no chance that he will be on number 52.

I like the intended position, but the choice is wishful thinking.

High remains offended in round 3 and has the Trey Sermon of the Bears landing in Ohio State, a handsome prospect who has all the attributes teams are looking for in a starting run.

Chicago has no depth behind David Montgomery (even with a healthy Tarik Cohen coming back) and Sermon, another in-the-tackles stunner, would make a lot of sense.

The first quarterback pick for the Bears in this mock comes in Round 5, with Georgia’s Jamie Newman (last played for Wake Forest). More athlete than pure passer-by, Newman has an NFL backup projecting as a practice squad at this point in his career. Not a good choice.
