Several artists and the former Mayor of Santo Domingo Este, Alfredo Pacheco, paid tribute posthumously Johnny Pacheco on the boulevard that bears his name on Avenida España in this municipality.
Several artists attended the place, including Ramón Orlando, who reiterated his request to name Cibao airport after Pacheco.
The artists, together with the former mayor, placed a wreath under the feet of the statue of the so-called “father of salsa”, who recently died.
Former Mayor Alfredo Martínez said they paid tribute to a great Dominican, musician and performer, promoter of the salsa genre and said that it is in life that good and great people should be honored, just like the administration he was to lead. an act for the renowned musician in which his daughter and wife also took part in the place where the boulevard was inaugurated in his honor.
“Pacheco needs to stay in the life and spirit of the Dominicans and I join maestro Ramón Orlando’s shout for Cibao airport to be named Johnny Pacheco,” he said.
