After discovering a body with a sign that cataloged him as the person responsible for the deaths of three Puerto Rico police officers in a shooting that took place yesterday in Carolina, authorities were able to identify him.
The body found in San José Street, the junction with the marginal Muñoz Rivera, Santurce, was identified by relatives as David Emanuel Rivera Batiz, 25, who was a resident of Ponce.
The authorities have not confirmed that this case is linked to that of the police officers who died yesterday.

Agents assigned to the Homicide Division of the San Juan Criminal Investigation Corps along with the on-call prosecutor have investigated the events.
This morning, Puerto Rico Police Department commissioner Antonio López confirmed the body’s discovery. In an interview with Radio Isla, the official stated that “we must verify it first to see if it is the same person.”
The written message next to the body reads: “I am responsible for the murder of the guard … Here it is.”
