They evaluate 11 soldiers on a military base after consuming an unknown substance – Telemundo San Diego (20)

11 soldiers from Fort Bliss military base in Texas are under medical observation after ingesting an unknown substance while conducting field training.

According to the base authorities, the soldiers fell ill after consuming a substance obtained outside of authorized food distribution channels. Wounded personnel include a technical officer, two non-commissioned officers and eight enlisted members.

The 11 soldiers involved in the incident remain under medical care at William Beaumont Army Medical Center since their arrival in the early afternoon on Thursday, January 28.

Two soldiers remain in critical condition.

The leaders of Fort Bliss remain in constant contact with the families and members of the unit of sick soldiers and will provide for their care.

“We are taking immediate steps to treat all concerned with the best medical care. Our leaders are involved at all levels to provide guidance, information and care to their teammates. Our commitment to our soldiers and families remains our number one priority as we try to understand what happened on January 28th, ”said Major General Sean C. Bernabe, 1st Armored Division and Fort Bliss mission commander.

Fort Bliss officials are continuing to investigate this incident in conjunction with law enforcement officials.
