The attacker will face allegations related to a racial hate crime and a count of elder abuse with injury, KNBC said.
The woman, identified only as Becky, tried to get off the 81 bus on La Loma Road and Figueroa Street. He was on his way to the Vons supermarket, his son told The Eastsider.

Another passenger, who was described as a black woman between the ages of 25 and 30, yelled racist remarks at her. The victim is Mexican American. She and her family, who have long lived in Highland Park, are mistaken for Asians, her son said.
The victim was attacked and injured by the passenger and was eventually dragged forward from the back of the bus, her relative said. The attack only ended when a passenger called 911.

The increase in violence has been linked in part to former President Donald Trump’s falsely blaming the coronavirus and the use of racially-laden terms such as the ‘Chinese virus’.
